The Road to WrestleMania Vegas: Sacramento Heat & Tribal Truths

The final Monday Night RAW before WrestleMania 42 rolled through Sacramento, and the air was thick with more than just California humidity. We’re officially in the "no turning back" zone! From contract signings that nearly required a riot squad to personal "pipe bombs" that cut a little too deep, here is your full breakdown of the night.
The Opening Salvo: Legacy vs. Reality
The show kicked off with a stinging video message from the Tribal Chief himself, Roman Reigns. Targeting CM Punk, Roman didn't hold back, calling Punk a "hypocrite" and a "liar" who revisits history to fit his own narrative. Roman even dug up old footage of Punk with The Shield and Paul Heyman to prove that for all his talk of being a "lone wolf," Punk has always had help. Roman criticized his merchandise focus, claiming Punk has "283 pieces of merch" but ignores "needy wrestling families. The message was clear: Roman is the Tribal Chief, and Punk is just living in a 2012 daydream.
Charlotte, Alexa, and the "Jacked" Lyra
The first match of the night gave us a star-making performance from Lyra Valkyria. Accompanied by Bayley, Lyra faced off against the powerhouse Charlotte Flair, who brought along her partner, Alexa Bliss.
- The Standout: Lyra looked absolutely "jacked" and held her own against The Queen.
- The Finish: In a hilarious "gotta" moment, Charlotte pushed Lyra right into Bayley, who tripped her up! Lyra took advantage of the situation, securing the win. Post-match? Pure fisticuffs central.
The MFT Fractures & A 6-Man Tag
Backstage, things looked messy for the Anoa'i family. Solo Sikoa showed up—noticeably without Tama Tonga—looking stressed and admitting the family is a disaster on SmackDown. He tried to warn The Usos and LA Knight to stop "hanging" together, but the result was the opposite: a massive 6-man tag match is now official for later that night! Later, during the match, Tama Tonga made a surprise appearance at ringside. The distraction allowed LA Knight to hit the BFT for the win. Strangely, Talla Tonga stared right through Tama Tonga. Are they heading for a breakup? Probably, but this 8-man tag on SmackDown will be the perfect time to fracture in the biggest way possible.
The Receipt: Rollins vs. Gunther
The Ring General, Gunther, came out to address the crowd, but Seth "Freakin" Rollins wasn't waiting for an invitation. Seth bum-rushed him, calling it a "receipt" for Gunther jumping him two weeks in a row.
- The War of Words: Gunther claimed he was just solving Paul Heyman’s problem and called Seth a "useful idiot." Seth fired back, calling out Gunther for avoiding top competition while he was the World Heavyweight Champion.
- The Brawl: The "Ring General" and the "Visionary" went at it in a flurry of headbutts and midsection knees. Gunther eventually retreated, but the damage was done—this is officially personal.
The Stephanie & Liv Masterclass
The feud between Women’s World Champion Stephanie Vaquer and Liv Morgan is officially one of the hottest programs heading into Vegas. Stephanie’s theme has been remixed (and it's a hit), but the music stopped when she interrupted Cathy Kelley’s interview with Liv. A massive brawl broke out, with Liv cussing up a storm and officials struggling to separate them.
Sidebar here: Liv Morgan's new song "Trouble" (performed by herself!) is a vibe. Listen to it here.

The Winery: AJ Lee vs. Becky Lynch
We got a stunning cinematic montage and promo package for AJ Lee and Becky Lynch. While neither was in the building, the segment recapped their previous exchanges. AJ reminded Becky that she "shattered the glass ceilings" Becky ran through, while Becky made it clear she's the top of the women's division now, and it's not ten years ago. This match for the Women’s Intercontinental Title is all about legacy. I kind of wish we hadn't had to revisit this through packages.
Club WWE & Dom’s Nightmare
WWE took a break for a Club WWE infomercial (announced by John Cena!), but the drama returned quickly backstage. "Dirty" Dominik Mysterio tried to get Adam Pearce to cancel his WrestleMania match. Dom’s logic? "Finn told me the Demon was dead!" Pearce shut him down, telling Dom to "look in the mirror" and realize he’s getting exactly what he deserves come Sunday.
The Kabuki Puppet Master
Iyo Sky faced Kairi Sane in a match framed by Asuka’s psychological games. Asuka treated Kairi like a junior throughout the night, even making dog noises at her backstage. Despite Iyo’s effort, Asuka’s interference proved decisive, helping Kairi steal the win. Is Iyo really just Rhea’s "sidekick" now?
The Ruler vs. The Beast: Contract Signing
The heavy hitters were out for the Brock Lesnar and Oba Femi contract signing.
- Brock’s Signature: Lesnar signed first, with Paul Heyman calling it a "Nigerian Death Warrant."
- Oba’s Confidence: The "Ruler" entered with zero fear. He called Heyman a "good mouthpiece but not an honest one," claiming Brock is actually scared of him. Oba called himself "the mountain that cannot be conquered." Did anyone else get chills?
IC Title Chaos
Je’Von Evans and Dragon Lee won a high-flying tag match against Rusev and JD McDonagh. However, Rusev wasn't happy, attacking them after the match until Rey Mysterio and then Penta (Ciero Miedo!) came down to settle the score. Rusev looked dominant, but Penta’s energy for the IC title is undeniable.
The Final Word: Envy & Legacies
The show closed with Roman Reigns and CM Punk finally sharing the ring. In a rare moment of vulnerability, Punk admitted he envies Roman—not just for the titles, but for the dynasty and family legacy Roman was born into. Punk even apologized for invoking Roman’s late father, Sika, in previous weeks. Roman, however, ended the night cold: "I’ve hated you for a long time." He promised that the fans' chants wouldn't save Punk this Sunday. Admittedly, while I think this was a good promo, I'm not sure it belonged at the end of this streak of conversations. It also felt like this one should have started their exchange rather than finishing it as we get ready for Mania this week.
What was your highlight of the go-home show? Are you Team Roman or Team Punk? Let’s talk about it in the comments! 👇
