From Cody's Win to the ESPN/WWE Cash-In: The Mamas talk Summerslam 2025 & WWE's Top Headlines

Woohoo! TKO is making its money back, and then some. With a whopping $1.31 billion in revenue reported for the quarter, it's clear the wrestling world is thriving. We're breaking down all the action from a jam-packed, two-night SummerSlam, including shocking wins, unexpected returns, and a few moments that left us scratching our heads.
The Streets Are Talking: Money, Movies, and Merch
Before we get to the main event, let's talk about the buzz. TKO's quarterly report blew past Wall Street's expectations, with WWE's share of the revenue coming in at a massive $556.2 million. The streets are busy, and so is Roman Reigns, whose filming schedule for the new Street Fighter movie has been locked in for September. This means our Tribal Chief won't be written off after his brutal Raw appearance. Thank goodness, we need him to wear some Timbs and stomp them out.
Oh, and in case you didn't hear, there's a new five-year, $1.6 billion deal with ESPN for the PLEs. Don't worry, fans, if you have an existing cable or satellite subscription that includes ESPN, you'll get the new streaming content for free. Maybe next time, they'll lead with that so we don't have a mini heart attack.
Main Event Mayhem: Cody vs. John Cena
Talk about a match! This was a phenomenal showdown between Cody Rhodes and John Cena. The physicality was intense, and Cena proved he's still got it, taking bumps that would make anyone cringe. Cody's win was hard-fought and well-deserved, but let's be real, the ending had us all talking.
The return of Brock Lesnar was a shocker. He's been shrouded in controversy, and bringing him back in the middle of active litigation felt complicated. While some fans were thrilled, others felt it was an insensitive move. We get both sides, and it's a testament to the emotional connection we all have to wrestling. But that visual of Cena carrying Cody on his shoulders, enveloped in fog? That was pure movie magic.
Night One: The Shock Heard 'Round the
Night one was all about CM Punk and Seth Rollins. We predicted something was coming, but this was next-level. CM Punk won the championship, only to lose it seconds later when Rollins cashed in his Money in the Bank contract. The level of pettiness, the drama, the pure cinema of it all—we love to see it! From Punk's dramatic entrance to the shocking finish, it was the definition of must-see TV.
Women's Division: Keeping the Fire Alive
The women's matches were a testament to the talent in the division, carrying on the momentum from Evolution. While we were happy to see Naomi, Tiffany Stratton, and the new tag team of Charlotte Flair and Alexa Bliss retain their titles, we have to give the win for most impactful to Charlotte and Alexa. Seeing two great athletes come together to become tag team champions was amazing, and it seems like Charlotte is happier than ever.
We also have to shout out Becky Lynch's brutal and emotional match with Lyra Valkyria. The ladies were brawling, but the post-match drama with Bayley left us feeling some type of way. The real shocker, though? Becky's savage verbal takedown of Nikki Bella on Raw. Ouch.
Dirty Dom and the Wyatt 6: Triumphs and Chaos
We need to talk about Dominik Mysterio's match with AJ Styles. The Eddie Guerrero tactics were a masterclass in homage and heel work. From the lowrider to the chair over the head, Dom's antics had us giggling, and his win solidified his status as a future star. It's clear that the rocket is strapped to his back, and we're here for the ride.
Then there was the chaos of the TLC match. The Wyatt 6 kept their championship, which, while good for their momentum, left us wondering what's next. The match was a non-stop brawl, with everyone going through a table at some point. And yes, seeing Candice LeRae and B-Fab in the mix was a great surprise! However, we didn’t love the match ending with the Wyatt Sicks retaining their championships, they would have been better served by returning them to the Street Profits whose reign was much too short.
